Cosmic Deadly Probe

from Scale and Probability by Monsterworks

/

about

After a weight of emptiness has driven us into despair, consider another possibility for the silence in the Universe; that there is another advanced intelligence out there, but it is so paranoid as to conclude that all other life must be annihilated. It is actually a fairly logical strategy - to kill off any competition before it becomes a threat.

One way of achieving such a policy would be sending out some kind of self-replicating probe across the galaxy with a mission to eradicate all life it encounters. We do not observe any evidence of life because ‘they’ got to it first. And eventually they will find us too. Sweet dreams.

lyrics

What would be the action of a superpredator?
Manifest in self interest when faced with the unknown

Logical conclusion for an apex mind
Self-replicating engine of death - sent forth

Scanning for life, a next target
Eliminating threat
Cosmic deadly probe

One can never know the alien-tellect
Rule of the strong, will to survive, the prime directive
Relentless myrmidon, artificially adept
Programmed to seek an end, mobile holocaust

Be it thrash, death, old-school, prog or black metal, there is something for everyone. Expect wailing guitars, wailing screams and a pounding rhythm section, delivered by a four-man war of sound. Surely they can’t be serious? ... more
